Finally

For the last three days I have been working on a cel shader that does things like I want it to.  One of the things about all of the cel shaders that are available in lightwave is that they are not really affected by the luminosity of the lights, the shadows they make are but the color and brightness do not change…

Let me post an example.

Switching Gears

New skin all around for the Dave model. That is I gave  him new cloths, I like the camo. I darkened his skin on a suggestion from a friend (I do listen, drop a comment why don’t you). I also found a way to combine cel shading with crosshatching. It is kind of hard to see in the above picture. Give me a moment and…

As for Dave, he has gotten up to 11440 polygons and is subpatched. He takes about 40 seconds to render at AA1, AS 0.1 at 800×800. Yes that is slow but my laptops is getting a bit old. If I keep the 3d stuff up I’ll have to get me a new desktop. Speaking of the polygons, here is a shot of them.

I have got to reduce the count in the ears and I would like to reduce some more in the chest . Wide areas don’t really need many polys but it is such a pain, I am so slow at it.

Okay, added flares to the exhaust, cables to the wings, flaps onto the main wing, reshaped the wings.

Added some pistons and modified the prop. If you look at the earlier version below you may notice the prop is angled the wrong way, fixed that.

Dave Morphing

Progressing further with the Dave model. Here is a 360 view and a few body morphs. I have added phonic morphs plus blinks and brow movement. Still need work on the facial expressions.

Another day of work

Some more work on my one and only male 3d model, think I have decided on a name, so here we go, a reintroduction for Dave… (David Oliver Anderson) Cel shaded this time and Rigged too!

The female character, Mia Watanabe was created 11 June, 2007 and is more then likely my favorite of my female characters. Oh, what am I saying, I love all my creations equally 😀

Still playing around with the surfaces but I think I have hit on something I like. The skin on both characters is a 2 zone cel shade while the clothing is 3 zone. If I get very close I might change the skin to 3 zone too, but I like to looks of this as is.

You know what, here it is with 3 zones on the skin, tell me what you think
