Little Worlds

leave a comment »

There is a technique that turns a panoramic into a sphere, creating a little world, a little planet if you will. I know it is a fad but it is interesting. In some ways I like them better then a regular panoramic.

Why? Well, you can see the whole image at a glance. Any of my 360deg views are about 5 times wider then they are tall. Viewing one at full height means I am going to have to scroll sideways quite a bit. After all the years of scrolling up and down on websites, it is just plain weird to scroll horizontally.

So here are some samples, and a quick tutorial.

Spaghetti Sandwich

leave a comment »

I love Spaghetti, I eat it at least once a month. Really, it is good stuff. I would say my spaghetti is not like yours. I am not trying to be elitist or anything, but long ago I gave up on bottled spaghetti sauce and spice packets. I also gave up on ground beef too. It is too bland. I use Italian Sausage.  If I was crazy I would use fresh tomatoes too, but I never have that much time. You see, time is always a factor and that is where the Spaghetti Sandwich came from. It takes at least 20 minutes to cook pasta, 2 minutes to make toast.  Read the rest of this entry »

Krista on a Bridge

So I head up to the Smokes with my friend Krista yesterday. I took nearly 200 photos, I have whittled them down to 36 and really, in the end I think the number will be down to 5, maybe 7. Still, this one was the best of the day.

A walkthough with water and bird

Ah, another walk though. I guess I am not much on creating tutorials, but a walk though is not only easy, but can give you ideas in processing that you might not have though of before.

This picture was created in Photoshop CS4 with the use of Nik’s ColorEfex, Dfine and Silver Efex plugins. The third party plugins are not absolutely required. Photoshop can do the work without them, but it is easier with them.

Get Out of my Sunset – before and after

leave a comment »

Yeah, there is a bit of post work going on here. Selective lightening with a good bit of noise reduction. I shot this at iso400 so the sky was pretty clean but the jeep was nearly black, with a ton of noise. Oh yeah, I really colorized the sky! I’m so fake! 🙂

Oh yeah, BTW, being able to do this is the main reason I don’t bother with HDRs anymore.

Its Getting Closer

Cool news from Sony today, it’s been all over the tech news on the web. They have created an OLED screen thinner then the thickness of a human hair that is also flexible enough to be rolled over a cylinder.

Now, this is new and not ready for production but think of what this could do. With some advancements in battery technology you could have your iPad turned into an iRoll. Sure, Steve Jobs will have his minions come up with something clever that starts with iP but I guess I am not clever enough.

But still, anyone remember 10 years ago with a called show Earth: Final Conflict. 4 good seasons one bad. Never mind that, they had one cool cell phone. I know this will never come out, people want games and what not. Along with smallerand sleeker. But for video conferencing on the go this would be cool.

More info at Sony
